SLUG'GARD = Sluggish; lazy. [In no way does this include people that have legitimate handicaps].

This is a KJV Bible study guide.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

[Could this apply to lazy people of today? Make up your own mind. When someone gets hungry, hopefully they get the urge to work. Show a little tough love and do not support a sluggard].

2 Thessalonians 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

[Too busy spreading gossip to do any work. Not a good idea to feed someone like this according to the previous verse].

Proverbs 10:26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

[Not a good idea to send a lazy person to do anything. Do you honestly think it will get done and done right]?

Proverbs 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

[Lazy people have many excuses for not working. They will go hungry and have to seek a handout].

Proverbs 26:14 As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

[Some lazy people never get out of bed. They turn from one side to the other only like they are hinged to a mattress].

Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Proverbs 6:7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Proverbs 6:8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

[Study the ant; you might learn something about work. The ant doesn't need someone telling them what to do, they work diligently putting up food for the winter on their own; they exercise personal responsibility].

A sluggard is a person who has the ability to work but refuses to. He lacks the drive, personal responsibility, and common sense to provide for his own needs. He likes sleep and dislikes work. He is always looking for handouts from hard working folks. This is in no way talking about truly handicapped people; remember, some fake being handicapped. It is quite apparent what God thinks of lazy, “able” bodied people. Keep studying my friends. There are many more verses that cover this subject.
