Thyroid Nodule RFA | |
Thyroid Nodule RFA (Radiofrequency Ablation) refers to a minimally invasive procedure used to treat thyroid nodules, which are abnormal growths or lumps that develop within the thyroid gland. Radiofrequency ablation involves using heat generated by high-frequency electrical currents to destroy the targeted tissue. During the procedure, the patient lies on an examination table, and the area around the thyroid gland is numbed with local anesthesia. Using ultrasound guidance, a small needle-like electrode is inserted through the skin and into the thyroid nodule. The electrode emits radiofrequency waves that generate heat, causing thermal destruction of the nodule. | |
