Why should you keep on top of your garden?
Do you have a garden? Regardless of how big or small it is, it’s worth putting time in to make sure it’s in a good condition. Not everyone has a green thumb, and that’s fine, but a lot of potential buyers will want to be able to enjoy time outside when the weather is nice, especially with guests. While some buyers will be interested in spending time doing it themselves, others won’t.
A well-kept garden adds extra space to your property that can be used straight away. If the buyer doesn’t have much time or interest in working on the garden, you doing so will make your home an appealing prospect to them. Those who do want to work on it themselves will find it easier to keep up what you’ve been doing or put their own ideas in place. Here’s a few reasons and ideas why your garden shouldn’t be neglected.
Make a good first impression
We’ve mentioned this in past blogs but first impressions matter, and this is true of both inside and outside your home. Front gardens are likely to be the first thing potential buyers will see so making sure it’s neat and tidy will help make that warm welcome. Walls should be in good condition and perhaps even painted while hedges should be trimmed and flowers looking neat.
The back garden is like an extra room. If it’s a wild mess, potential buyers might think that you don’t care for it, and that could be true of the rest of your home. Make sure this doesn’t happen by making sure it’s neat and tidy, even if you don’t use the space or have much interest in gardening.
A great space for guests
Gardens are perfect for you to relax in, enjoying late breakfasts, sunny afternoons and family barbecues but they’re also great areas for you and your friends or guests to enjoy. Some rooms can feel cramped with too many people but outside areas won’t have this problem, and with patio doors, you can make the garden an extension of that room.
